Terms of Service
An agreement between you and Lazzat Omir, a sole proprietor established at 7 Dombyra Street, Medeu District, Almaty A25C8G2 (050010), Republic of Kazakhstan, who trades as OP BJJ. In this document and in the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Acceptable Use Policy and Academy Terms, "OP BJJ", "we" and "us" mean that person, and a reference to OP BJJ is a reference to them. Questions: support@opbjj.com.
1. What this is
OP BJJ is a training log, ranking, and AI coaching-assistant application for Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners and academies. It records your training history, supports belt and promotion tracking, enables AI-assisted technique analysis, and provides video review tools.
This application is a record-keeping and analytical tool. It is not instruction, not medical advice, not a substitute for a qualified coach, and not a substitute for qualified medical or legal counsel.
Payments for premium subscriptions are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle") as Merchant of Record. When you purchase a subscription, you are transacting with Paddle, not directly with OP BJJ. Paddle's own terms of service and privacy policy govern that transaction. We are responsible for the service you receive; Paddle is responsible for payment processing, applicable tax collection, and statutory consumer rights under its Merchant of Record role.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account you represent that you meet this age requirement. Athletes aged 13–17 use the same features as everyone else; the Privacy Policy, Section 4, describes what is different for their accounts.
Academies enrolling junior members are responsible for holding appropriate guardian consent and complying with any safeguarding obligations imposed by their jurisdiction or affiliation.
3. Physical risk — read this before using this application
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a full-contact grappling sport. Training and sparring carry a real risk of serious physical injury, including but not limited to:
- Orthopedic injury: sprains, tears, and ruptures of ligaments and tendons (ACL, MCL, rotator cuff, elbow UCL); dislocations of the shoulder, elbow, and knee; fractures.
- Spinal injury: cervical and lumbar strain, disc herniation, and — in rare but documented cases — serious spinal cord involvement.
- Traumatic brain injury: concussion and cumulative sub-concussive impacts from throws, takedowns, and accidental head contact during ground work.
- Vascular injury: carotid and vertebral artery involvement during neck cranks and choke applications.
- Soft-tissue injury: cauliflower ear, skin abrasions, mat burns, and staph or ringworm infection from contact.
You train at your own risk. Nothing this application shows you — a recommended technique, a training plan, a readiness score, a drill sequence, a competition-preparation guide, or any AI-generated suggestion — constitutes an instruction that a given activity is physically safe for you to perform. The decision about what to attempt belongs to you and your qualified instructor, not to this software.
Check with a doctor first. Talk to a qualified medical professional before you start training, change how much or how hard you train, or return after an injury or illness — especially if you have a heart, neck, back or joint condition, are pregnant, or have had a concussion.
Do not train through pain or suspected injury. Do not use this application to self-diagnose injury or to decide whether to return to training after injury. Never ignore or delay medical advice because of something you saw in this application. Seek qualified medical advice.
Train safely with your partners. You are responsible for how you train with others: tap early, release a submission as soon as your partner taps, and don't attempt a technique your partner, your instructor or the ruleset you train under hasn't agreed to.
By using this application in connection with any physical training activity, you acknowledge the risks described above, you voluntarily accept all of those risks, known and unknown, and you agree that OP BJJ is not responsible for injury, death, or property damage arising from your participation in Brazilian jiu-jitsu or any other physical activity, regardless of whether you used this application in connection with that activity.
Nothing in this clause excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, where such exclusion is prohibited by applicable law.
4. AI analysis — hold-harmless waiver
AI output is information, not a guarantee. It's for training and informational purposes only and can be wrong.
AI Output is provided for informational and training purposes only. We do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete or suitable for your situation, and it is never a medical, safety or refereeing decision.
The AI coaching chat, video analysis, positional feedback, and technique suggestions (collectively, "AI Output") are generated by automated machine-learning models. They are not verified expert advice. They can be, and sometimes are, confidently wrong about:
- Technique identification and classification
- Positional advantage and scoring under competition rules
- Submission threat assessment
- Training load recommendations
- Injury risk
- Your specific footage
By enabling and using AI features you agree:
(a) AI Output is a suggestion only, to be critically evaluated by you and your qualified instructor before acting on it.
(b) OP BJJ is not liable for any loss, injury, competitive outcome, or other consequence arising from your reliance on AI Output, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
(c) You will not use AI Output to make decisions about whether to train through pain, return from injury, compete against medical advice, or perform techniques outside your current ability level.
(d) You understand that AI models are trained on general data and have no knowledge of your medical history, physical condition, prior injuries, or skill level beyond what you explicitly provide.
(e) AI Output is not medical advice. Do not use it to diagnose or treat any injury or health problem, and never ignore or delay medical advice because of it.
(f) AI Output may name or describe techniques that are high-risk, restricted at your belt or age, or illegal under the ruleset you train or compete under (for example neck cranks, heel hooks or slams). A technique appearing in AI Output is never a statement that it is safe or allowed for you. Learn and drill any technique only under a qualified instructor.
AI allowances are hard limits. Every AI allowance on OP BJJ is a hard limit. Individual plans include a set number of roll analyses and of coach messages per day and per month, and each coach message can be up to 1000 characters; academies receive a monthly grant of AI credits shared across their members and a per-member monthly allowance (up to 30 and up to 60 analyses per member each month respectively, drawn from the academy's shared credits while they last, under a daily cap per member that the academy owner sets), which the academy owner may raise or lower for their own verified members between 0 and 600. All of these figures are published on the plan before purchase and are shown in the app while you use it. An allowance or a credit balance can be fully used before the period ends; when it is, roll analysis stops until the period resets or the academy buys a Credit Pack, and the rest of the product continues to work. Unused allowances and unused monthly credits do not carry over into the next period. Academy credits and Credit Packs are governed by the [Academy Terms](/academy-terms), Section 6. Any quantity shown as approximate is an estimate and not a guaranteed number of analyses.
If our model costs change. The number of analyses an approximate allowance buys depends on what the underlying AI model costs us. If that cost rises materially we may reduce an approximate quantity for future periods, and we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies. Your exact figures — the price you pay, an academy's monthly credit grant, and the per-member monthly allowance — will not be reduced during a period you have already paid for. How many credits an academy analysis uses is set out in the Academy Terms, Section 6.
Federation names are used only to identify which published ruleset an analysis was written against. OP BJJ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by IBJJF, ADCC, CJI, or any other federation, promoter or event organiser.
5. Video upload — consent and warranties
When you upload video footage you represent and warrant that:
(a) You have the right to upload the footage. This means either you filmed it yourself and own the copyright, or you have explicit permission from the person(s) who filmed it.
(b) Every identifiable person in the footage has given informed consent to being recorded, to the footage being uploaded to this platform, and to it being processed by AI systems. This includes your sparring partners, training partners, coaches, and any other person visible in the footage.
(c) You have guardian consent for any minor (person under 18) visible in the footage. This is in addition to any safeguarding requirements your gym or affiliation imposes.
(d) The footage is not taken covertly. It was not recorded without the knowledge of the people in it, and it was not taken at a facility that prohibits filming.
(e) You are not uploading footage belonging to another person's paid course or instructional product without their authorisation.
(f) Share cards. If you create a share card that includes a frame or clip of your footage, you confirm, each time, that every person shown in it agreed to it being posted publicly. You are responsible for where you post it. Cards with footage can't be made from rolls showing anyone under 18.
Uploading footage in breach of any of these warranties is a material breach of these terms. We will remove footage on a credible, specific objection from any person shown in it, whether or not that person is a user of OP BJJ, and we may suspend or terminate your account.
6. Payment — Paddle as Merchant of Record
Premium subscriptions are purchased through Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), Judd House, 18–29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, UK. Paddle acts as Merchant of Record, which means:
- Paddle charges your payment method, issues your invoice or receipt, and handles tax collection and remittance in applicable jurisdictions. Your bank or card statement will show a charge from Paddle, not from OP BJJ or from any name resembling it.
- Paddle's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to the payment transaction itself.
- Statutory consumer rights regarding payment (including statutory refund rights under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, UK Consumer Rights Act, and equivalent legislation) are administered by Paddle. Our Refund Policy at
/refunddescribes the practical process.
What you buy. Each plan bought on our website states what it includes, its price and currency, and its billing period before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, charging the same payment method, until you cancel. Introductory offers. On our website, Overpowered can start with an introductory price: you pay $0.99 today for the first 3 days. Unless you cancel before those 3 days end, Overpowered then renews automatically at $34.99 per month, charged to the same payment method, until you cancel. In the iOS app, Overpowered can start with an Apple free trial of 3 days instead (Section 6a). We remind you by email before the first full charge. The first 3 days have limits: up to 2 AI roll analyses (clips up to 3 minutes), 10 coach messages in total (follow-up questions on an analysis count) and 3 voice notes; some Overpowered features (the weekly read, session reads, competition tools, Then vs Now and the game plan) unlock with your first full monthly payment, and so does the full Overpowered allowance. One introductory offer per person on our website: you can't have it there if you have already had a free trial or an introductory price, on our website or in the app. In the app, Apple decides whether you get the free trial (Section 6a). Full rules: [Refund Policy, Section 4](/refund#introductory-offers). Your plan (or your introductory period) starts as soon as you complete checkout, and at checkout you are asked to confirm that you want it to start immediately and what that means for your right to withdraw. All prices are shown inclusive of applicable tax where Paddle is required to display them that way.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time, with no fee: go to Settings → Billing → Cancel my plan and confirm. Cancelling stops all future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and after that your account moves to the free plan. You can also manage or cancel your subscription through Paddle's customer portal at paddle.net. There are no change-of-mind refunds. Refunds where something goes wrong on our side, and your statutory rights, are set out in the [Refund Policy](/refund).
Price changes: We will tell you at least 30 days before any price increase applies to your next renewal.
6a. Purchases in the iOS app
If you buy a subscription inside the OP BJJ iOS app, you buy it from Apple through the App Store, not from Paddle. Apple charges you, and renewals, cancellation and refunds for that purchase are handled by Apple under its terms. Manage or cancel it in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. A free trial in the app is an Apple introductory offer on Overpowered monthly: you pay nothing for 3 days, it has the same limits as the introductory period on our website (Section 6), and unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, Apple charges the monthly price shown in the app, then every month until you cancel. Apple decides whether your Apple Account is eligible. What your plan includes is the same however you bought it. If you are covered by your academy's plan, you don't need to buy anything in the app.
The app licence. If you use the OP BJJ iOS app, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If it conflicts with these Terms on how the app is licensed from the App Store, Apple's terms win. Everything else about the service, including your subscription, what the AI does and doesn't do, and our responsibilities to you, is in these Terms. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content, and doesn't provide support or maintenance for it: contact us at support@opbjj.com.
7. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Choose a strong password and do not share it.
7a. Where your data is accessible from. OP BJJ is operated from the Republic of Kazakhstan, which has no European Commission adequacy decision. By creating an account you accept the following: *I understand my data will be accessible from Kazakhstan, outside the EEA, which has no EU adequacy decision, and I consent to that transfer.* The details — what is accessed, by whom, and the safeguards — are in Section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
Handles (usernames) are unique. A retired handle — whether you deleted your account or we retired it — stays retired permanently and cannot be re-registered by anyone.
One person, one account. Do not create multiple accounts to circumvent access restrictions or falsify records.
Do not falsify match results. Verified results depend on the other athlete confirming the outcome; manipulating them is a breach of these terms and may result in account suspension.
8. Rank
Belts, stripes, and promotions in the real world are awarded by qualified instructors under their affiliation's rules and standards. What this application stores is a record of what you or your academy records. Nothing in this app confers rank. A leaderboard position is not a grading. We do not award promotions.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to: harass, threaten, or abuse other users; upload unlawful content; impersonate a coach, academy, or official; scrape or bulk-extract data; attack or probe the service; share an account to pool AI quotas; attempt to extract system prompts; or use the service for any purpose unrelated to BJJ training management.
The full Acceptable Use & Safety policy is at [/acceptable-use](/acceptable-use) and forms part of these terms.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the service running but make no uptime guarantee. Features may change with reasonable notice. If we discontinue a feature or tier you have paid for, we will refund the unused, prepaid portion.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law:
(a) Our total liability to you for all claims arising under or in connection with these terms or your use of the service is limited to the greater of (i) the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim and (ii) US$100.
(b) We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive losses, or for loss of data, revenue, profit, opportunity, or goodwill.
(c) Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that applicable consumer protection law prevents us from excluding.
(d) To the extent permitted by law, and except where a consumer protection law provides otherwise, the service is provided "as is" and "as available" and we disclaim all implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service or any AI Output will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate. Some US states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so this may not apply to you.
(e) Your responsibility to us. To the extent permitted by law, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from a third party's claim that arises because you uploaded footage without the consents Section 5 requires, or because you broke Section 9 (Acceptable use). This does not apply to anything we caused, and it does not limit any right a consumer law gives you.
12. Intellectual property
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the application for its intended purpose. You retain ownership of content you create (training logs, clips you upload). You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display that content to operate the service — including sending video to AI providers for analysis when you enable that feature.
13. Ending it
You may delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion is subject to the data-handling rules in our Privacy Policy (your record is anonymised, not hard-deleted, because it intersects with other athletes' verified records).
We may suspend or terminate your account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms and will tell you why, unless we are legally prevented from doing so. Where we terminate for a reason other than your breach, we will refund any unused prepaid subscription period.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Your mandatory local consumer rights are not affected by this clause: if you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live and may bring a claim in its courts. If you use OP BJJ for a business, such as an academy, the courts of Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan, have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you have a complaint, email support@opbjj.com first. We will reply within 3 business days and try to resolve it within 14 days; please give us 30 days to resolve it before starting a formal claim, unless the law lets you act sooner. If you bought through Paddle, you can also contact Paddle's buyer support at paddle.net. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may also be able to use an alternative dispute resolution body or the courts of the country where you live; nothing in these terms removes that right.
15. Changes
We version this document. We will notify you in the app of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect, and for a material change we ask you to accept the new version in the app before you continue. For other changes, continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when. If you do not accept, delete your account before the effective date.
